The Award-Winning 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLC SUV

The 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLC SUV was an early standout winner in the 2017 MotorTrend SUV of the year, as well as Kelley Blue Book’s: Luxury SUV of the year best buy award winner.

The Mercedes-Benz GLC SUV won over the team at MotorTrend, making it a no-brainer choice for SUV of the year. “This is a cleverly targeted product delivering a cost-effective mix of new C-Class and E-Class technology and hardware into a red-hot market segment at a surprisingly affordable price,” said Angus MacKenzie, an author at motor trend.

What made the Mercedes-Benz GLC SUV the MotorTrend SUV of the year? We’ll let the members at Motor Trend tell you themselves.

Combination in Design

“The GLC itself is a mishmash of Mercedes componentry, specifically the chassis and mechanical bits of the E-Class and the interior and electronics from the C-Class. We find this to be a particularly brilliant way to build a crossover.” said Jason Cammisa.

“This thing is just nice,” Christian Seabaugh said, an editor at MotorTrend. “I hop in and immediately feel relaxed. The seats are sofa soft yet still supportive. All the touch points feel like a million bucks.”

Guest judge Mike Accavitti: “It’s very luxurious looking with lots of leather and wood. I love how the infotainment system warns you not to be distracted by it, but then it has all these awesome screens you can’t help be distracted by.”

Angus MacKenzie: “Looks rich and upscale, like a mini S-Class. It sets the benchmark for a small luxury SUV.”

Scott Evans: “The steering is beautifully fluid and nicely weighted. The GLC is a much smoother and more mature corner carver than the Jaguar F-Pace, which feels darty by comparison.”

“Still hard to believe this is a turbo I-4,” Evans said. “It’s so quick, and the power is always there.”

Not only did the Mercedes-Benz GLC SUV turn heads over at MotorTrend but also had the heads turning at Kelley blue Book too making this one of the sought after vehicles of the year.

Here is what Kelley Blue Book has to say about the 2017 Kelley Blue Book’s: Luxury SUV of the year best buy award winner:

“The 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLC embodies many of the attributes that shoppers seek from these go-anywhere, do-anything wonders and pushes both the practical and emotional buttons that can justify the GLC’s place in your garage.”

Class-above qualities

“It doesn’t just look good, it also offers great room for its size and good performance from an economical turbocharged 241-horsepower, 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine.”

“The boldest element is the large three-pointed star that dominates the grille, not a bad calling card when one speaks of luxury.”

“The overall cabin design is contemporary, adorned with well-designed controls that actually contribute to the SUV’s interior appeal. The Comand system with its rotary knob has evolved to be more intuitive, while redundant switchgear on both the console and steering wheel gives you several options on controlling critical systems while minimizing driver distraction.”

Driving in style

“Based on an architecture derived from both the C- and E-Class sedans, the GLC has firm, communicative steering. It has all the dynamic character you expect from a German luxury entry with the added benefit of a high seating position that gives great outward visibility.”

“Beneath the hood is a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that makes 241 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. The longitudinally mounted engine is mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission and delivers power to all four corners through Mercedes’ 4Matic system.”

Business Insider’s 2016 Infotainment System of the Year Goes to Audi!

The Audi MMI/Virtual Cockpit won over the transportation team at business insider, making it a no brainer as the 2016 infotainment System of the year. The ability to stay connected in today’s world is essential with the increasing demand for immediate connectivity. According to Business Insider, “A great infotainment system makes car ownership a pleasure. A poor system makes it a chore. Consumers are far more demanding these days than they were just five years ago. And they’re going to get more demanding, as 24/7 connectedness continues to define their lives.”

“Think of this as built-in intuition.” reports, “The Audi MMI operating system allows you to instinctively manage an array of systems including navigation, entertainment, interior, even ride dynamics on models with Audi drive select. The result is a balance of simplicity, intuitiveness and elegance to enhance your ownership experience.”

Staying connected isn’t the only thing Audi wanted to achieve when designing their Virtual cockpit. They also wanted to provide their driver with the ultimate safety keeping their attention on the road.

Safety First

According to Business insider, “Of course, not all trends are good ones: Consumer Reports has noted frequent owner complaints about balky infotainment systems; and the issue of distracted driving is of paramount importance.”
“Reliability, ease-of-use, precision (especially when it comes to navigation) and the ability of a system to be operated while driving without endangering anyone were key criteria for our choice — which involved debate and discussion all year long among Senior Correspondent Matt DeBord, Transportation Reporters Ben Zhang and Danielle Muoio, and Senior Transportation Editor Cadie Thompson (Evening News Editor and West Coast car buff Bryan Logan also kicked in his thoughts).”

Features of the 2017 Volkswagen Golf Alltrack

VW Golf Alltrack

The team at Volkswagen choose their top 10 features of the new Golf Alltrack.

The new 2017 Volkswagen Golf Alltrack is ready for any adventure, with all-wheel drive, roomy interior, and a sporty design. The Golf Family Product Managers from Volkswagen of America, Inc. shared the 10 top features of the Golf Alltrack that sets it apart. See what they choose below:

Always in 4MOTION®

All-wheel drive helps when you take the road less traveled — or the road during a variety of weather conditions. That’s why the Golf Alltrack comes standard with 4MOTION all-wheel drive. In normal daily driving, the front wheels receive the majority of the drive power. However, when road conditions change, 4MOTION works to transfer grip almost instantaneously to help prevent wheel slippage. 4MOTION works to help ensure that the wheels with the most grip can provide traction where it’s needed.

For All Your Adventures

The 2017 Golf Alltrack was built for the great outdoors. So when you’re driving along a graveled forest road to a trailhead, you can have greater peace of mind. The new 2017 Golf Alltrack received a 5-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). NHTSA’s tests include front, side and rollover crashes.

Space to Spare

Adventurers need room for the backpacks, tents, camping gear, coolers and muddy hiking boots. With its standard 60/40-split rear seat folded flat, the Golf Alltrack offers 66.5 cu. ft. of storage. Even with the rear seats in use, the Golf Alltrack offers 30.4 cu. ft. of cargo space. And for the outdoor sports lovers, the Alltrack comes standard with a convenient rear-seat center pass-through to store your gear.

The Right Height

Trying to wrestle a mountain bike or road bike, or even a pair of skis, on to the roof rack of a compact sport utility vehicle can be a challenge. But with the Golf Alltrack, the roof height is just 4 feet, 11 inches, so it’s easier to lift a mountain bike or snowboard up there with no problem. Roof rails come standard with the Golf Alltrack, and Volkswagen Accessories offers some very cool gear, like carrier bars to hold your bike, board or a rooftop cargo box.
